#TCCBaseball: Kinney named FCSAA Fireman of the Year

LAKELAND, Fla. (May 10, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College sophomore pitcher Jake Kinney was named the FCSAA Fireman of the Year on Thursday evening. 

Kinney, a sophomore right-hander from Zephyrhills, Fla., was previously named the Panhandle Conference’s top relief pitcher. 

In 25 appearances, Kinney has posted a 4-0 record, seven saves and a 1.70 ERA. He has struck out 60 batters in just 37 innings. 

Sophomore designated hitter Cole Vann was named FCSAA First-team All-State. 

Vann, a native of Colquitt, Ga., is batting .395 with seven home runs and 47 RBI through 55 games. 

Freshman pitcher Justin Sorokowski was named FCSAA Second-team All-State. The right-hander, who hails from Mechanicsville, Va., is 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA. 

The trio will lead Tallahassee into postseason play at 10 a.m. Friday against State College of Florida in first round play at the NJCAA Gulf District/FCSAA State Tournament in Lakeland, Fla.
