Following Saturday's results, Tallahassee will carry a two-game lead over Gulf Coast State into Monday's game. The Eagles need one win in their final two games OR one Gulf Coast State loss to clinch the PC Wild Card. If Tallahassee wins both games vs. Northwest Florida State, it will clinch the PC's No. 2 seed and automatic berth in the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Tournament.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 21, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team played a different kind of game on Friday: the waiting game.

Taking its turn on the bye in the Panhandle Conference schedule, the Eagles paid close attention to Friday's games and will do more scoreboard watching on Saturday, knowing the results carry major postseason implications, not just for Tallahassee but for Northwest Florida State College and Gulf Coast State College as well.

The three teams are battling for second and third place in the PC standings and, come late next Wednesday evening, two of the three will be preparing for postseason baseball. The fourth place finisher will be the odd man out, its season over.

On Friday, Tallahassee's postseason hopes received a bit of a boost, thanks to Chipola College's 7-4 win over Gulf Coast State. That extended the Eagles' (11-11 PC) lead over the Commodores (9-12) to one in the loss column, 1.5 games overall, in the race for third place and the PC Wild Card with two games remaining – three for Gulf Coast State.

Northwest Florida State (12-9) knocked off Pensacola State College, 8-4, in Friday's other game to maintain a two-game lead in the loss column over Tallahassee for second place. The same two teams meet in Pensacola on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Gulf Coast State plays at Chipola on Saturday in a game that will bring even more clarity to the Eagles' path to the postseason.

If Chipola wins, Tallahassee will enter its final two games of the season against Northwest Florida State needing just one win to lock up, at worst, the Wild Card.

If Gulf Coast State wins, the Eagles become more vulnerable, due to the Commodores owning the head-to-head tie-breaker. While Tallahassee closes with Northwest Florida State, Gulf Coast State wraps up regular season play with a two-game set against Pensacola State (3-18).

Regardless of what happens Saturday, Tallahassee knows it can lock up the PC's No. 2 seed and automatic berth to the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Tournament with two wins over Northwest Florida State.

The teams will play in Niceville at 5 p.m. Monday then back at Eagle Field at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
